Cyclones win third straight game

Tuesday night, The HCHS girls varsity soccer team went on the road to Denison High School and came away with a 3-2 victory for their third consecutive win.

“Coming off of two great wins against Atlantic and St. Albert we didn't want to let down against a rival in Denison,” said HCHS Head Soccer Coach Jared Boysen. “We had quite a few scoring opportunities early, but were unable to capitalize until about halfway through the first half.”

The Cyclones had three different girls score on the night including Freshman Aubrey Schwieso, Senior Raegen Wicks and Freshman Ivy Stephens. Stephens who got injured the previous game was able to return and help out the team in their victory over Denison.

“Raegen Wicks was able to score next on a penalty kick and a few minutes later Brynn Klaassen had a great cross into the box to Ivy Stephens to put us up 3-0,” he said. “We were fortunate Ivy was able to go after injuring her ankle the night before.”

With this victory it puts their record at 7-5 overall. Their next opponent will be on the road Thursday at 5 p.m. when they play the Creston Panthers, 0-9.

“Overall this has been an important three game win streak coming off of the loss to Underwood, and I hope we can continue this success going into the final week of the regular season,” he added.
