CYCLONES SWEEP DENISON ON BLUE OUT NIGHT

HARLAN -- Though it is still a work in progress to be sure, the Harlan Community boys basketball team is showcasing an early-season ability to come through in the clutch.
Three days after winning an overtime game at Blair, the Cyclones erased a 13-point fourth-quarter deficit in Friday’s home opener and improved to 3-0 with a dramatic 76-72 victory over Denison-Schleswig.
Junior Logan Klaassen, who made just two of his first 12 shots from the field, drilled a go-ahead three-pointer from well behind the arc with 1:07 remaining, then converted four straight free throws in the final 30 seconds to help HCHS get to 2-0 inside the Hawkeye Ten Conference.
“Logan did not have a particularly good first half... but I told him, ‘You’re going to hit, you’re a great shooter,’ and he did the second half,” said HCHS coach Mitch Osborn. “He hits a dagger three off the offensive rebound and then made his free throws, and we definitely wanted the ball in his hands to get (to the line).”
