Cyclones place second to LC in Ken Carstens Invite

HARLAN -- With spring temperatures on the rise and the wind finally starting to idle down, track athletes across the state are looking to use the upcoming week as a springboard toward qualifying for the Drake Relays later this month.
If Tuesday’s Ken Carstens Cyclone Boys Invitational was any indication, the chase for Drake is well underway.
Despite some lingering chill and breeze in the air, performances were on the upswing in Harlan as two long-standing meet records fell by the wayside and Lewis Central continued it early-season winning ways.
Harlan Community earned three gold medals and scored 17 times in 13 events - highlighted by an impressive one-two punch in the discus - but it was the Titans who ultimately stole the show by sprinting their way to the team title with 140 points and seven first-place finishes.
