Cyclones meet Rams in battle of improved teams
GLENWOOD -- What a difference a year can make.
Last season at this time, the Harlan Community and Glenwood football teams had won four out of 14 games en route to a combined overall record of 5-13 and a 2-10 mark in district play. The Cyclones shut out the Rams 19-0 in Week 8, but both programs fell short of reaching the playoffs.
Flash forward 52 weeks and things look a whole lot different at the top of Class 3-A, District 8.
HCHS, ranked seventh by the Associate Press, and Glenwood (11th) sport a combined record of 13-1 and have both clinched postseason berths with two weeks left in the regular season. When the Cyclones venture to Glenwood Friday night to face the unbeaten Rams at 7:30, the outcome could very well decide who will open the playoffs at home and who will start on the road.
