Cyclones drop game to the Titans

It seemed like the Cyclones had a victory over the Lewis Central Titans, but with only one out remaining in the game and down by a run, Lewis Central rallied and beat the Cyclones, 11-6.

Throughout the game, the Cyclones rallied as sophomore Quinn Koesters had three hits and drove in two runs. Junior Stephen Leinen also had a multi-hit game and drove in two runs as well, but in the end, it didn’t go in the Cyclones favor.

“The fact that we were only one out away is the only thing that’s tough to swallow,” said HCHS Head Baseball Coach Heath Stein.

Coming into the game against Lewis Central, both teams had six wins and had won two games in a row. Stein commented on how competitive of a game he felt this was going to be coming in.

“I expected it to be a battle and it sure was,” he said. “We put too many guys on for them and they capitalized.”

It won’t be easy, but the Cyclones will have to shake this loss off quickly as Thursday night they will get right back on the field for a game against the Denison-Schleswig Monarchs.

“Use the tense moments, use the tough at bats,” he added. “A lot of times, you just pick yourself back up and you play the next day.”
