Cyclone Jamboree kicks off basketball season

 HARLAN -- Three area girls basketball teams took part in Thursday night’s Cyclone Jamboree at Harlan Community High School. The HCHS girls defeated IKM-Manning 31-14 in one half of play, taking a 17-3 lead after one quarter and outscoring the Wolves 14-11 in the second. The AHSTW girls, meanwhile, lost to Atlantic 29-12. Also scrimmaging were Griswold vs. West Central Valley and Panorama vs. Red Oak.
 The two-time defending state champion Cyclones, listed third in the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union’s preseason Class 4-A rankings, will host Sioux City Bishop Heelan in a Hall of Pride Scrimmage on Tuesday. The junior varsity will play at 5:00 p.m., followed by a full varsity game at 6:30. Fans who bring a canned or nonperishable food item for the food pantry will get $2.00 off an adult admission price and free admission for students.
