Cyclone boys finish fourth in final bowling meet

 COUNCIL BLUFFS -- The Harlan Community boys bowling team placed fourth out of eight teams in the Class 1A State Qualifying Tournament held February 17 at Thunderbowl.
 Clarinda, led by the top three individual scores in the field, posted a winning total of 3,228 pins and advanced to last week’s state tournament in Waterloo.
 St. Albert also topped the 3,000 mark with a 3,026 for second place. The remaining scores included: Red Oak 2,853, HCHS 2,561, Knoxville 2,549, Tri-Center 2,416, Southeast Warren 1,770 and West Central Valley 1,618.
 Clarinda’s Owen Johnson was the individual district champion with a two-game set of 536, rolling games of 279 and 257.
 HCHS was led by sophomore Andrew Andersen, who placed 12th overall with a 389 (192-197). Individual scores were as follows.

Brennon Munch: 171-185 - 356
Brayden Ernst: 168-162 - 330
Aiden Schleimer: 164-138 - 302
Caleb Smith: 122-136 - 258
 HCHS finished with totals of 1,735 pins during the individual round and 826 during Baker games. The Baker scores were 144, 176, 126, 187 and 193.
 The Cyclones will lose just one senior off this year’s varsity squad in Brennon Munch.
