Cyclone boys avenge Glenwood
HARLAN -- The deck was certainly not stacked in favor of Harlan Community Friday night, but the Cyclones didn’t seem to mind.
Playing 24 hours after a hard-fought win over Atlantic and facing a rested Glenwood team that handed HCHS its only conference loss 20 days earlier, all the Cyclones did was lead from start to finish, avenging the Rams 78-70 in a physical non-conference battle.
Combined with recent wins over Kuemper Catholic (67-32) and Atlantic (79-68), the fourth-ranked (Class 3-A) Cyclones have now defeated their top three Hawkeye Ten opponents in a span of eight days, improving to 15-2 overall. With a win at Creston February 16, HCHS will join Glenwood and Kuemper as the conference tri-champions, each sporting a league record of 9-1.
