Cyclone bowling teams keep on rolling

HARLAN -- The winning streak reached a combined nine duals for the Harlan Community boys and girls bowling teams last Thursday as the Cyclones easily swept a home meet against Nodaway Valley.
The HCHS boys won their fifth straight dual, 2,756 to 1,907, improving to 5-2 on the season. The girls also won big, 2,148 to 1,488, giving them four straight victories and a 5-2 record as well.
Max Langenfeld (422) and Mitchell Leinen (415) both rolled a two-game series over 400 for the Cyclone boys while Zach Besta-Thompson was not far behind with a 394. Four out of six Cyclones had a 200 game on the day: Leinen 232, Langenfeld 223, Besta-Thompson 211 and Bailey Schmitz 206.
The Cyclone girls were led by Bailey Portwood’s two-game series of 322, followed by Kenzie Jones (299) and Megan Owens (278). Portwood’s 170 marked the high game of the day.
