Bulldogs rally past Wolves 8-7

 AUDUBON (July 11) -- Down to its last out, Boyer Valley plated five runs in the top of the seventh inning to stun the IKM-Manning baseball team 8-7 in Saturday’s Class 1A district quarterfinal game played at Audubon.
 The Wolves took a 7-3 lead by scoring six times in the fourth inning and seemed in good shape when Conner Richards struck out the first two Bulldog hitters in the seventh.
 Hunter Soma’s solo home run gave Boyer Valley some momentum, however, and the Wolves began to fall apart defensively with three late errors. Mix in a walk and an infield hit and the Bulldogs eventually took the lead on a run-scoring wild pitch.
 Boyer Valley’s final four runs were unearned and it won the game despite totaling only four hits, advancing to Tuesday’s District 15 semifinal at Audubon (10-7) with a 5-4 record.
 IKM-Manning was retired in order in the bottom of the seventh and finished the season at 3-6.
 The Wolves had 11 hits on Saturday, led by Max Nielsen’s 3-for-4 game with one RBI. Ben Lingle and Hayden McLaughlin (one double) both went 2-for-4 while Will Jorgensen, Nolan Ramsey, Brody Blom and Luke Ramsey all singled. Jorgensen led the team with two runs scored.
 Nielsen pitched the first three innings for IKM-M and allowed two hits and one earned run. He walked one and struck out four.
 Richards took the loss, allowing two hits and five runs (one earned) over the last four innings. He walked three and struck out five.
 IKM-Manning seniors included Ben Lingle and Will Jorgensen.
