Boys Soccer: Vikings open with 2-1 win over Thunder

DES MOINES (April 1) -- Kole Branan and Raydden Grobe scored first-half goals for AHSTW and the Vikings were able to hold off Grand View Christian for a season-opening 2-1 road victory Thursday night.
Grobe assisted Branan’s goal with a throw-in and later scored unassisted to cap the scoring for AHSTW. Grand View Christian scored its lone goal late in the second half.
“It was nice to start the season with a hard-fought win,” stated AHSTW head coach James Johnson. “We have a long way to go to get where we want to be, but it’s always good to start the year in the win column.
“We have a short bench this year so it’s challenging to keep everyone rested, but I think we had a great effort out of everyone for the entire game.”
