Boys Soccer: Cyclones lose opener at Treynor on late PK
TREYNOR (April 1) -- Danny Kinsella’s late penalty kick proved to be the difference maker Thursday night as Treynor handed Harlan Community a 3-2 defeat in the boys soccer season opener for both squads.
Trailing 2-1 at halftime, HCHS tied the score with 24:37 left in the match on Mason Anderson’s back side header goal off a crossing assist from Ashton Lyon.
The score remained tied until the 12:17 mark when the Cyclones were called for a foul near the edge of the box and Kinsella converted the ensuing PK.
Sam Burmeister and Keaton Mann added first-half goals for Treynor and Lyon made a penalty kick for HCHS with 2:49 left in the first half after Devin Kearney was fouled in the box.
