American League wins IWL All-Star Game
PORTSMOUTH (Aug. 4) -- The American League built an 11-0 lead by the top of the fourth inning and held off the National League 16-11 in Wednesday’s Iowa Western League All-Star Game in Portsmouth.
The NL got back in the game by scoring seven runs in the bottom of the fourth and pulled within 11-9 in the sixth, but would get no closer.
The game featured four home runs by Dan Kenealy of Neola, Justin Schaben of Portsmouth, Tyler Vandewater of Walnut and Dean Bedell of Persia.
Neola’s Kaleb Harrison won the Home Run Derby prior to the game, slugging 18 bombs to edge Massena’s Trevor Jameson (last year’s champion) by one.
