“Home Sweet Dome” book signing Wednesday at Buck Snort

 HARLAN -- Award-winning sports writers Craig Sesker and Doug Newhoff will be in Harlan Wednesday afternoon (August 11) for a book signing as they announce the release of “Home Sweet Dome”, the most comprehensive history of the Iowa high school football playoff era ever produced.
 The book signing will take place at The Buck Snort Restaurant (3002 23rd Street, Harlan) from 3:00-5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Several Harlan Community football players, as well as the coaches, are expected to be on hand.
 From Harlan, Emmetsburg, Cedar Falls and Iowa City Regina to Dowling Catholic, Waverly-Shell Rock, Aplington-Parkersburg and West Bend-Mallard, the book tells the stories of 34 programs that define the word champions, along with chapters about individual stars like Kurt Warner, Dallas Clark, Bryce Paup, Reggie Roby, Robert Gallery and Sage Rosenfels.
 “Home Sweet Dome” features 44 total chapters, 560 pages, more than 100 photos and nearly 100 interviews with legendary players, coaches and others who have made autumn Friday nights memorable for fans throughout our state.
 Chapter 2 of the book, “Cyclone Warning,” takes a comprehensive look at the unmatched tradition of Harlan Community High School football, including its 12 state titles and nine state runner-up finishes since the Iowa high school football playoffs began in 1972.
