Thelma Nelson, 81

    ELK HORN -- Thelma Nelson, 81, Elk Horn, died January 15 at the Salem Lutheran Homes.
    Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, Jan. 21 at 11 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Harlan with burial in the Harlan Cemetery.  Visitation is Thursday from 9-11 a.m. at the church.
    Nelson is survived by sons Tim Smith of Blair, NE, and  Todd (Shireen) Smith of Omaha, NE; daughter Traci (Mark Haynes) Smith of Harlan; stepdaughters Janie (Gregory) Valdez of San Antonio, TX, and Teresa (Mark) McLaughlin of Audubon; stepson Jerry Nelson of Destin, FL; brothers Albert (Gay) Schwarte of Defiance, Richard (Myrna) Schwarte of Templeton, and Joseph (Vernita) Schwarte of Defiance; sister Karen (Clarence) Brinker of Ankeny; sister-in-law Glenda Hall of Defiance; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
    Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan is in charge of arrangements.
