Steven Eugene Frum, 78

Steven Eugene Frum, son of Joseph and Violet (Schade) Frum, was born on December 8, 1943 in Shelby, Iowa.  He was baptized at the United Church of Christ in Minden, Iowa and was confirmed at the First Congregational Church in Omaha, Nebraska.  He grew up in the Omaha area and attended Westside District 43 and graduated from Central High School.  After graduation, he went to Omaha University for 1 year.
On June 7, 1964, Steven was united in marriage to Joan Webber in Webber, Kansas.  To this union 4 children were born: Pamela, David, Susan and Brandy.  Steve spent many years of working throughout his life at various different jobs including: Shavers Food Mart, a Cookie Salesman, United AG Warehouse. Steve raised and butchered rabbits, around 500 per week, and would sell them to local grocery stores. He spent the most time running the Dairy Queen Restaurant in Denison, Iowa. Steve was a horseman his entire life, beginning with his courtship with Joan, to riding 50 mile endurance races, 50 mile competitive trail rides, roping calves and Ride and Tie races, and holding Shelby Saddle Clubs Horse Play Days. Eventually, his dream of owning his own race horse became a reality and he raced many horses over the years.  In his free time he enjoyed golfing, traveling to watch his race horses, and supporting his grandchildren in all their activities.
 On Wednesday, November 9, 2022, Steven passed away at his home surrounded by his family having attained the age of 78 years, 11 months and 1 day.  He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Violet; daughter Brandy; grandson Jason Woodward; and brother Jack.
 Left to cherish his memory here on earth are his wife Joan Frum of Shelby, Iowa; children Pamela Woodward (Steve Frerichs) of Hinton, Iowa; David (Jackie) Frum of Earling, Iowa; Susan (Henry) Paulsen of Avoca, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother Barry (Phyllis) Frum of Crescent, Iowa; nieces and nephews, other family and many friends.
 An 11:00 AM Funeral Service was officiated by Pastor Matt Bahnfleth on Monday, November 14, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Avoca, Iowa.  Pat Martin, Tim Newcomb, Babe Kohlscheen, Roger Pelster, Mike Conway, and Jim Butler served as honorary casket bearers.  Jordan Frum, Dillon Frum, Braden Frum, Evan Schroeder, Hunter Frum, and Nathan Tibbets served as casket bearers.  Interment was held at Shelby Cemetery in Shelby, Iowa.
Pauley Jones Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
