Mildred G. “Midge” Goeser, 94

Mildred G. “Midge” Goeser, age 94, of Council Bluffs, passed away April 16, 2024 at Amelia Place. Midge was born September 4, 1929 in Portsmouth, IA to the late John J. and Kunigunda “Kuni” (Foxhoven) Fuhs. She married Marvin Schaben on January 11, 1951 at St. Mary’s Church in Portsmouth. They were blessed with three children, Myron, Peggy, and Patricia. Peggy preceded Midge in 1953 at the age of 9 months and husband Marvin preceded Midge in 1965 at the age of 38. Midge was a farm wife and homemaker. She married Donald Goeser on September 11, 1971 and made Council Bluffs their home. Midge was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church; St. Ann’s Altar & Rosary Society and was the funeral lunch chairperson for many years at St. Peter’s. In addition to her parents, daughter and husband, Midge was preceded in death by her siblings, Bill Fuhs in 1996, Bernadine Kenkel in 1998, Rita Schaben in 2007, Robert Fuhs in 2020 and Patricia Smith in 2021. Midge is survived by her husband of 52 years , Don Goeser of Council Bluffs; son, Myron (Nancy) Schaben of Defiance, IA; daughter, Patricia (Jack) Larsen of Council Bluffs; 7 granddaughters, 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Maryann Kramer of Harlan, IA; brother, Joe Fuhs of Omaha, NE; many nieces and nephews. Recitation of the Rosary, Sunday, 5:00 p.m. followed by visitation with the family until 7:00 p.m. at Cutler-O’Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial, Monday, 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church, 1 Bluff St. in Council Bluffs. A lunch will immediately follow in Kottas Hall at St. Peter’s. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Earling, IA at 2:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Peter Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society.
