Mary Pat Tremel

December 10, 1929 - January 25, 2023

Mary Patricia Tierney was born to
Edward and Mercedes on December
10, 1929 in Omaha, NE. She
was baptized at St.Peter’s Catholic
Church in Omaha and later confirmed
at St.Patrick’s Church in Dunlap, IA.
She attended Catholic school in Dunlap
from 1st grade until graduation
and worked at Lehan Drug Store during
high school.
Mary Pat found the love of her life
when she met Leonard Tremel. They were united in marriage on February 16,
1950 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Dunlap. They were married 68 years.
To this union, six children were born: Jean, Nancy, Kathy, Don, Deb, and Sharon.
As a homemaker, raising their six children, she found time to enjoy many
hobbies, including gardening, sewing, quilting, crafts, cooking, square dancing,
games of any kind, traveling, and spending time with her family. She also
enjoyed being a member of the Catholic Daughters in Earling, IA for 68 years.
Throughout her life, Mary Pat was always loving, gentle, patient, and kind.
Her door and heart were always open to all friends and family stopping by to
say hello. They would always be guaranteed great snacks and conversation,
a big smile, and always a positive attitude.
Mary Pat passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at
Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, surrounded by her family. She
was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Mercedes Tierney; her
husband, Leonard Tremel; and her sister, Joan Baker.
She is survived by her children: Jean (Art) Kritenbrink of Council Bluffs,
IA; Nancy Tremel (Dale Peterson) of Courtney, British Columbia, Canada;
Kathy Olson of Norwalk, IA; Don Tremel of Earling, IA; Deb Henrich of Earling,
IA; Sharon Bruck (Kelly Reynolds) of Earling, IA; 16 grandchildren; 16
great grandchildren.
A 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial was officiated by Rev. Andrew
Windschitl on Monday, January 30, 2023 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church
in Earling, Iowa. Luke Bruck, Willy Henrich, Dustin Bruck, Josh Olson, Ryan
Henrich, Rob Stephens,
Scott Smith, and Brandon
Boger served as casket
bearers. A burial was held
at the St. Joseph’s Cemetery
in Earling, Iowa following
the service.
Pauley Jones Funeral
Home was in charge of
