Laverne Mertz, 94

    AVOCA -- Laverne Roy Mertz, 94, Avoca, died July 17 at Avoca Speciality Care.
    Services will be held Wednesday, July 22 at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Walnut with private family burial at the Calvary Cemetery in Omaha, NE.
    Mertz is survived by daughters Jan (Mayo) Watson of Littleton, CO and Peg (Craig) Belshe of Estes Park, CO; sons Tom (Linda) Mertz of Omaha, Mike (Barbara) Mertz of Kearney, NE and Robert (Steve) Mertz of Columbia, SC; brother George Mertz of Walnut; sisters Alice Richter of Walnut and Hazel Knouse of Council Bluffs; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
    Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Avoca is in charge of arrangements.
