Don Mathiesen, 79

Donald Mathiesen was born on June 27, 1943 to Virgil & and Kathryn Mathiesen in Harlan, la. He grew up and attended school in Harlan graduating with the class of 1961. After graduation Don enlisted in the Marine Corp and went to California to begin his adult life.
Don married Tomi Kuba and 3 children were born to this union. Daughter Kim (Sean) Gallagher, and sons Michael (Jodie) Mathiesen, and Christopher Mathiesen. Don became a baker in the military and after his stint in the service he went to work at King Super Bakery in Colorado. He continued in this profession until he retired. The family made their home in Castle Rock, Co. and retired there. They loved the Colorado life style and being close to the mountains.
On Monday, Jan. 30, 2023 Don passed away at his home in Castle Rock.
He fought a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer for nearly 5 yrs. He had reached the age of 79 yrs. 7 mo. 3 days.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, his mother and father-in-law, his brother Vernon Mathiesen, and his sons Michael and Christopher Mathiesen.
He is survived by his wife Tomi Mathiesen, daughter Kim (Sean) Gallagher, sister Carol (Dennis) Woodin of Harlan, daughter-in-law Jodie Mathiesen, sister-in-law Carol Mathiesen, 1 granddaughter and 1 grandson, nieces, nephews and friends.
