Beverly J. Barrett, 87

Beverly J. Barrett, age 87, died Saturday, May 4 2024, at her home in Brandon, SD.  Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Sioux Falls, SD at a later date.
Beverly, the daughter of Floy (Hon) Obrecht and Ben Obrecht was born on June 9, 1936 in Harlan, IA. She attended school in Harlan and graduated from Harlan Community High School in 1954. Bev was united in marriage to Robert Charles Barrett on March 30, 1961 in Hermosa Beach, California. They began raising a family shortly thereafter and by 1967, Beverly had four children.
In 1968, after almost a decade in California, Bev and her family returned to the Midwest.  They settled down in Brandon in 1976 where Bev purchased their dream home.
Beverly worked as a nurse for over 50 years, employed at Palisade Manor in Garretson, McKennan Hospital, Southridge Health Care Center, Helping Hands Assisted Living of Brandon, SD and Bethany Home, of Brandon, SD, plus many other long term care facilities in the local area. Beverly was an extremely hard-working wife and mother. She showed her love through her service to others. When she wasn’t working, she enjoyed gardening, reading and loving animals, especially dogs, including her beloved “Fluffy”, “Duckie” and “Tinkerbelle”.
Grateful to have shared in her life are her four children, Melinda Barrett, Brandon SD, Candy (Gary) Frisvold, Lemmon SD, Monica Williams, Brandon, SD and Robert (Judi) Barrett, Lake Havasu City, AZ; eight grandchildren, Jodie, Lydia, Elizabeth, Behring, Hannah, Donna, Olivia and Herman; and nine great-grandchildren, Kailynn, Jordan, Liliana, Jaiden, Janelle, Jamison, CoraMae, Harper and Jude.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben (1966) and Floy (1990) Obrecht; her husband, Robert (1994) and her siblings, Jerald, Eileen, Gene, Max and Jaime.
