Al “Sonny” Wede, Jr. was born in
Council Bluffs, Iowa May 9, 1948 to
Alfred Wede, Sr. and Velda (Greer)
Wede. He attended elementary
school in Persia and Harlan, Iowa
before completing his high school
education at Iowa Western State

He worked various jobs in Restaurants
and auto shops in Harlan.
Before, retiring he worked for Stabilt
Construction and at his Uncle
Ernie’s gas station in Avoca.
He lived in Shelby for the last 48 years where he put his handyman
skills to work remodeling his house and his love for cars to use. He was
always one to “get a good deal” on anything.
Sonny enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews as he really
was a “Big” kid at heart himself. His favorite quote was “Oh well”, which leant
to his kind and easy-going nature.
He had a love for food; his favorite food was hot roast beef sandwich with
mashed potatoes and gravy. Sonny’s hobbies included spinning rock & roll
records, camping, fishing with buddies, cooking, going to concerts and old

Heaven with a huge smile on his face as he watched the Kansas City Chiefs
win the Super Bowl this past weekend.
