Supervisors hold organizational meeting

 SHELBY COUNTY — The Shelby County Board of Supervisors began the new year with an organizational session January 2.
 Newly elected officials, Supervisors  Mike Kolbe and Charles Parkhurst and Auditor Taryn Knapp, took the oath of office for their positions.
 Bryce Schaben was elected Chairman of the Board and Charles Parkhurst will serve as Vice Chairman.
 Jay Ring was again appointed Weed Commissioner and Taryn Knapp  was named GIS Coordinator. Dr. Scott Markham will continue to be the County Medical Examiner.
 The Board made a number of re-appointments, and all deputy county officials were renamed to their positions. Supervisor committee assignments will remain the same, with Kolbe taking over the committees previously assigned to former Supervisor Steve Kenkel.
 County holidays were approved, as were county health insurance rates, and participation in the ISAC Wellness Program. Mileage reimbursement was changed to 70¢ per mile.
 In other business, Jordon Sanders resigned his position as Interim EMS Director. Jenny Thoreson will replace Sanders and Austin Thompkins will be the Assistant Director.
 The Supervisors met in regular session  Tuesday, January 7. County Recorder Geralyn S. Greer provided a quarterly report, and stated the office had a busy December with recreational vehicle registrations. Boat registration renewals have been sent and are due April 30.
 Chris Fredericksen, County Engineer, stated the plows were out last week and the maintainers were still working on snow removal in the northern part of the county. Todd Valline provided an update from the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
 Brent Scheve from The Agency and the Board discussed and reviewed the county’s various insurance policies.
