HARLAN -- As the starting pistol is raised into the warm summer air, swimmers raise their marks on the platforms, parents shifted to the edge of the bleachers and the coaches calmly stare through their sunglasses.
The Harlan Swim Team has developed over the course of decades to be a successful, fulfilling program for the community.
Journey began in 1989
In the summer of 1989 Leanne Travis started her journey with the Harlan Swim Team. She began as a coach, but spent multiple years as president of the Swim Team Board. For approximately 15 years, Travis played a pivotal role in this history of the club.
