Harlan City Clerk Sawyer discharged from duties

HARLAN – The Harlan City Council Tuesday, Oct. 27 terminated the employment of city clerk Debra Sawyer effective immediately.
    City administrator Terry Cox recommended Sawyer be discharged from her duties.  “It’s been determined that the employee’s skill and competency is not adequate for performing the duties of city clerk despite both on the job and outside training, and that her employment should be terminated,” Cox said.
    The council voted 5-0 (Dan Schumacher, Dave Miller, Jay Christensen, Mike Kolbe and Dave Pedersen) in favor of following the recommendation.  Councilperson Sharon Kroger was absent.
