    HARLAN – Security was tight in Harlan Saturday, Dec. 19, as attendees of the campaign stop by Republican presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson got a quick lesson in the importance of safety when important people arrive in town.
   But the 100 or so people who turned out to hear Carson speak at the American Legion building didn’t seem to mind the secret service type atmosphere, opening their purses to security or the wand waved around their bodies by guards charged with keeping the town hall meeting secure.
   Carson, who trails contenders Donald Trump, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio in the latest polls, enjoyed a rousing welcome from supporters Saturday, as he spoke on a variety of topics, but centered more on foreign policy and in particular, ISIS.
