Lions Club hopes plates are gifts that keep on giving
Harlan Lions Club is again sponsoring a May Day/Mother’s Day giving plate project. Club members are hand painting ceramic plates with a design and the words, “The Giving Plate” and “Enjoy-Refill- Pass” on them. Each plate will feature a clear bag of six home baked chocolate chip cookies and a bag of six home baked sugar cookies on each plate. The plate and cookies will be wrapped in a clear cellophane bag tied with a bow. Orders will be taken up until Mother’s Day for the plates and cookies.
The funds raised go to the Harlan Lions Club to help support and “give” back to the community and theplates are meant to be passed on (given) to keep spreading smiles to everyone in our community and further. They can pre-order by phone by calling Donna Schmidt, 712-579-2483, or visiting the Lions Club table outside of Hy-Vee on Friday, April 22, 4-6 p.m. and Saturday, April 23, 8 a.m.-noon.
