Wolves win big, maintain share of district lead

 MANNING -- Stephen Grimm and Carter Irlmeier scored two touchdowns each and IKM-Manning’s defense held Missouri Valley to 137 yards while forcing four turnovers in an impressive 34-7 victory Friday night.
 The Wolves improved to 4-1 overall and 3-0 in Class 1A, District 7, tied for first place with AHSTW (5-0, 3-0) going into this week’s area showdown in Avoca (Friday night, 7:00 p.m.).
 Takeaways aided the Wolves’ cause against Mo. Valley as their first two touchdown drives covered just 30 and 35 yards. Grimm scored on a seven-yard run and Irlmeier added a 30-yard TD scamper to make it 14-0.
 The Big Reds (3-2, 1-2) cut that lead to 14-7 with just :52 left in the first half on a one-yard run by Skeeter Bostwick; however, IKM-M came right back and went up 20-7 on quarterback Jared Johnson’s 50-yard run before halftime.
 Grimm and Irlmeier would both add a touchdown run in the third quarter to cap the scoring and turn the game into a rout. Grimm finished with 108 yards on 24 carries and Irlmeier added 82 yards on 16 attempts.
