Wolves run past Cyclone girls in jamboree, 34-13

 HARLAN (Nov. 16) -- Outscoring Harlan Community 24-3 in the second quarter, IKM-Manning beat the Cyclones 34-13 as part of Thursday’s girls basketball jamboree at HCHS.
 Eight teams participated in the event, each playing for a half. Additional winners included: Atlantic (over Griswold), Panorama (over AHSTW) and Treynor (over Red Oak).
 The IKM-M vs. Harlan scrimmage was tied 10-10 following one quarter but the Wolves took control in the second period using their typical brand of full court pressure defense. IKM-M finished with 11 steals (three by Gabrielle Cadwell) and forced 16 Cyclone turnovers.
 The Wolves, who are rated 10th in Class 2A by the Iowa Girls’ High School Athletic Union to start the season, got seven points each from Cadwell and Payton Sporrer, followed by six points from Kia Rasmussen (two 3s), four each by Shauna Reitan and Peyton Gross and three each by Paige Gaskill and Caitlin Muhlbauer.
 The Cyclones, rated 15th in 4A, made just 3-of-18 field goals. HCHS scoring was as follows: Macie Leinen 5 points, Nicole Lange 3, Chloe Hansen 2, Olivia Petersen 2 and Lexi Larsen 1.
