Wolves hold off Treynor, 68-67
TREYNOR -- IKM-Manning avenged an earlier home loss to Treynor and handed the Cardinals their first defeat of the season on Friday, February 5, holding off a big rally to win 68-67.
The 8th-ranked (1-A) Wolves led 20-7 after one quarter and 37-17 late in the second, but the 3rd-ranked (2-A) Cardinals chipped away. Treynor possessed the ball last with a chance to win, but was unable to get off a shot.
IKM-M (17-2, 14-2 Western Iowa Conference) was led by Kyle Wagner’s 22 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and three blocked shots, shooting 54 percent as a team. Jon Brandt (14 points), Ben Wegner (13) and Jared Vollstedt (12) also scored in double figures, with Wegner grabbing seven rebounds and Vollstedt adding five steals and three assists.
