Wolves advance to WIC semifinals, fall to T-C

 MANNING (October 10) -- The IKM-Manning volleyball team won a hard-fought five-set match with Logan-Magnolia in the quarterfinal round of the Western Iowa Conference Tournament Monday night before falling to top-seeded Tri-Center in a three-set semifinal match here Tuesday.
 The fourth-seeded Wolves (22-11 overall) faced third-seeded Missouri Valley in Thursday’s consolation final (at Manning) and will close out the regular season at the Lewis Central Tournament on Saturday (8:30 a.m.).
Five-set win:
 The Wolves and fifth-seeded Panthers scored the same number of points going into the fifth set Monday before IKM-M emerged with a 25-14, 14-25, 22-25, 25-22, 15-11 victory.
 Gabrielle Cadwell had a big game at the net for the Wolves, finishing 22-for-26 on attacks with 12 kills and a .308 efficiency. Sydney Wegner and Peyton Gross added nine kills each and Sammy Halbur had seven. Hanna Mullen served 26-for-27 with no aces.
Semifinal loss:
 Ranked 8th in Class 2A, Tri-Center swept the Wolves for the second time in as many meetings Tuesday, prevailing 25-15, 25-21, 25-10 behind 15 kills and 11 digs from junior Brooklyn Hundt. The Trojans (26-2) served nine aces in just three sets.
 IKM-Manning was led by Cadwell’s 10 kills (.333 eff.) and seven kills by Caitlin Muhlbauer (.357).
