Wolves’ season ends in overtime thriller at Lo-Ma
LOGAN -- In a game that looked and felt much more like a regional final than the quarterfinal round that it was, IKM-Manning and Logan-Magnolia needed four extra minutes to decide Tuesday’s win-or-go-home rubber match between Western Iowa Conference rivals.
In the end - following six ties, three lead changes and a wild finish to regulation - Lo-Ma scored first and led throughout overtime despite the lack of a made field goal, hitting 9-of-15 free throws to outlast the Wolves, 60-58, in a Class 2-A, Region 3 thriller.
The 12th-ranked Panthers improved to 19-3 overall and will now host South Central Calhoun (17-6) in a semifinal game Friday night.
Fifteenth-ranked IKM-M, which led 20-11 in the second quarter, erased an eight-point second-half deficit but couldn’t finish off the Kenzie Cunard-led Panthers down the stretch and finished the season 18-5.
