Week 9 loss keeps Wolves out of playoffs

HOLSTEIN (Oct. 19) -- The IKM-Manning football team fell five points short of qualifying for the Class A playoffs last Friday following a 24-19 loss at Ridge View. A victory would have forced a three-way tie for first place in Class A, District 2 with Alta-Aurelia and Sioux Central, locking all three teams into the playoffs. Instead, the Wolves finished the season 5-4 overall and 3-2 in district play, tied for third with Ridge View.
IKM-M never led against the Raptors, trailing 16-6 after one quarter, 16-12 at the half and 24-19 after three. Stephen Grimm scored on a six-yard run for the Wolves and quarterback Kyler Rasmussen threw a 37-yard TD pass to Keaton Allmon as well as scoring on a two-yard run with 2:22 left in the third.
IKM-Manning outgained Ridge View in total offense 363-326, led by Grimm’s 182 yards on the ground. He also recovered a fumble on defense. Rasmussen completed 8-of-19 passes for 120 yards. Nathan Blankman was his top target with six receptions for 82 yards.
