Vikings, Wolves fall in WIC Baseball quarterfinals

 AREA (June 24) -- The AHSTW and IKM-Manning baseball teams both bowed out in the quarterfinal round of last Monday’s Western Iowa Conference Tournament.
 The seventh-seeded Vikings lost their quarterfinal game 4-0 at second-seeded Underwood, managing just two hits - singles by Clayton Akers and Blake Holst - off Eagle pitchers Landon Nelson (five innings) and Nick Ravlin. AHSTW’s Sam Porter allowed seven hits and three earned runs in five-plus innings. He struck out eight and walked one.
 IKM-M played two games Monday, beating Riverside 15-3 (five innings) in the 8 vs. 9 game, then falling to top-seeded Treynor 12-2 in five.
 An eight-run first buoyed the Wolves against the Bulldogs and Hayden McLaughlin pitched five solid innings for the win, allowing four hits and three unearned runs (one walk, five Ks). Alex Lingle went 3-for-4 at the plate while Grant Stracke (3 runs) and Will Jorgensen (2 runs, 3 RBI) had two hits each. Nolan Ramsey, Jerod Henkelman and Dane Blom doubled and Amos Rasmussen legged out a triple.
 Lingle had a double and one RBI vs. Treynor. Ethan Carter singled and scored.
