Vikings strike early and often in rout of Mustangs
AVOCA (Aug. 31) -- AHSTW scored twice in the first three minutes, led 35-0 at the half and cruised past Shenandoah 45-0 in non-district football action Friday night.
Senior Gabe Pauley ran for 144 yards and a touchdown on just 15 carries while quarterback Blake Osbahr completed 7-of-8 passes for 199 yards and three scores and added one TD run.
The Vikings, ranked fifth in Class A by the Associated Press last week, improved to 2-0 overall and will play at Westwood (2-0) this Friday in Sloan.
It didn’t take long for AHSTW to pull away from the 0-2 Mustangs, starting with Osbahr’s 45-yard screen pass touchdown to Brayton Tuma on the second play from scrimmage.
Shenandoah lost a fumble on their first snap, Pauley scored from four yards out shortly thereafter and the rout was on.
Drake Partridge caught first-half TD passes of 34 and 88 yards (on another screen pass) and also returned an interception 80 yards to paydirt.
