Vikings pull away from Earlham with strong second half

EARLHAM (Sept. 28) -- AHSTW overcame three turnovers with some big plays on both sides of the football during Friday’s second half at Earlham, beating the Cardinals 35-7 to keep their undefeated record intact.
The second-ranked (Class A) Vikings improved to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in District 9, tied with St. Albert for first place. Earlham dropped to 2-4 and 0-2, respectively, but gave AHSTW all it wanted for more than two and a half quarters of play.
With the score tied 7-7 in the third quarter, Viking quarterback Blake Osbahr connected with Drake Partridge for a 50-yard scoring pass to give AHSTW the lead for good. Moments later, Osbahr picked up a Cardinal fumble and returned it 30 yards for a touchdown.
A Partridge interception and 25-yard return would set up a Gabe Pauley TD run and the Vikings added one more score to make it a four-touchdown game.
Osbahr had a big night on both sides of the ball, completing 13-of-21 passes for 246 yards and three TDs (all to Partridge) and also rushing for 100 yards on just six carries. He recovered two fumbles on defense.
Pauley finished with 130 yards rushing on 23 carries and Partride was the top receiver with five catches for 123 yards and three scores. Gabe Madsen added two receptions for 50 yards, Korbin Martin had three for 46 and Brayton Tuma had two for 29.
