Vikings place first at Riverside Tourney
OAKLAND (April 28) -- The AHSTW boys soccer team improved to 8-1 on Saturday, winning the championship of the Western Iowa Shootout in Oakland with wins of 2-0 over Riverside and 2-1 (in a PK shootout) over Treynor.
The Vikings, ranked 14th in Class 1A, tied the Treynor match on Kyle Branan’s free kick with 16:21 left in the second half. The match went directly to a penalty kick shootout which AHSTW won 3-1. Branan, Gabe Madsen and Brayton Tuma all connected on their PK shots for the Vikings.
In the first-round match vs. Riverside, Blake Osbahr and Madsen both scored first-half goals for AHSTW, with Rudy Herrera notching an assist.
