Viking boys start off 1-1

 AVOCA (Nov. 27) -- Treynor outscored the AHSTW boys 44-21 during the second and third quarters Tuesday night, handing the Vikings a 67-47 home loss in Western Iowa Conference action.
 Ethan Hoepner led AHSTW with 10 points, followed by Blake Osbahr with nine, Clayton Akers eight, Brody Langer six and Sam Porter five.
 Treynor, which shot just 4-of-25 from three-point range, got 17 points and 14 rebounds from 6-foot-8 junior Jon Schwarte. Jack Tiarks (13 points), Jack Stogdill (12) and Jerry Jorgenson (11) also scored in double digits.
AHSTW 72, Woodbine 70
 WOODBINE -- AHSTW won a hard-fought season opener at Woodbine Monday night, prevailing 72-70 behind a combined 37 points from Clayton Akers (19) and Joey Cunningham (18). Blake Holst and Raydden Grobe added nine points each for the Vikings, Blake Osbahr scored six and Sam Porter had five.
 Three-point shooting won the game for AHSTW, which finished 12-of-26 from the arc. Cunningham knocked down 6-of-9 treys and Akers was 4-for-6.
