Viking boys improve to 4-0

AVOCA -- The AHSTW boys soccer team picked up a pair of hard-fought home wins earlier this week, improving to 4-0 overall with victories of 3-1 over St. Albert Monday and 2-1 over Treynor on Tuesday.
AHSTW 3, St. Albert 1 - Senior Preslyn Grobe scored a pair of goals and sophomore Kyle Branan added another as the Vikings notched an impressive non-conference win on Monday. Both teams attempted 16 total shots while the Vikings finished with a slight 7-6 advantage in shots on goal.
“This was a great win for our team,” said AHSTW head coach James Johnson. “We played the most complete game so far this season and played solid possession soccer against a very good team that is used to controlling the ball.”
AHSTW 2, Treynor 1 - The Vikings answered Treynor’s first-half goal within a minute and scored the game-winner on Brayton Tuma’s 10-yard chip over the goalie (assisted by Xach Butler) with 22:08 left in the match. Grobe had the first goal for AHSTW on a 10-yard back post shot, assisted by Gabe Madsen.
