Two Lady Vikes run in top six at Shenandoah

 SHENANDOAH -- Chloe Falkena and Julia Kock both placed in the top six last Tuesday (Aug. 21) as the AHSTW cross country teams opened the season at the Shenandoah Early Bird Invite. No team scores were kept, but the AHSTW girls unofficially finished second to Shenandoah (39) with a point total of 61.
 Falkena placed fifth out of 62 girls with a five-kilometer time of 22:28 while Kock was close behind with a sixth-place time of 22:32. Also placing in the top 20 for the Lady Vikes were Jade Draman (14th, 24:01) and Holly Hoepner (15th, 24:06). Falkena, Kock, Draman and Claire Denning (34th, 27:19) are all returning members of last year’s Lady Vike state-qualifying team.
 Three Viking boys also competed Tuesday, led by Cody Roskens finishing 25th in 20:21.
 Tuesday’s race winners were Alexa McCunn of Red Oak (20:55) and Jerry Jorgenson of Treynor (16:18).
