Treynor girls end Lady Vikes’ season
TREYNOR (Feb. 13) -- The AHSTW girls basketball season came to a close last Tuesday night as Madelyn Deitchler scored 31 points for Treynor in the 2nd-ranked Cardinals’ 63-39, Class 2A regional quarterfinal win over the Lady Vikes.
Deitchler made 13-of-18 field goals in the game and teammates Kayla Chapman and Konnor Sudmann added 15 and 11 points, respectively. The Cardinals (21-1) built a 36-17 halftime lead and kept AHSTW at bay the rest of the game. Three nights later, they crushed St. Albert 62-25 in a Region 7 semifinal.
The Lady Vikes, who had won their previous six games, finished 11-12 overall. Claire Harris and Morgan Eckmann paced AHSTW with 12 and 11 points, respectively, followed by Kinsey Scheffler with nine, Josie Denning four and Claire Denning three.
