Treynor forfeits WIC semifinal to IKM-M after storms hit T-C

NEOLA -- The Western Iowa Conference Softball Tournament semifinal between IKM-Manning and Treynor ended via forfeit Thursday night (June 29) when strong thunderstorms suspended play after three innings.
IKM-M led 2-1 when the game was stopped and Treynor opted to forfeit rather than returning to Tri-Center Friday night. The Cardinal coaches cited scheduling conflicts and the fact that they were playing three games in Carroll on Saturday.
The Wolves advanced and won the WIC Tournament title with an 8-2 win over Missouri Valley on Friday. The Lady Reds knocked off top-seeded Logan-Magnolia 6-1 in Thursday’s first semifinal.
In the second semi, Treynor took an early 1-0 lead on Madelyn Deitchler’s first-inning RBI double, but the Wolves were able to plate two unearned runs in the top of the third on Payton Sporrer’s two-run single.
