The Tradition Continues...

 The 2018 Harlan Community baseball team added to a growing trophy case last week, making the program’s eighth consecutive state tournament appearance and reaching the championship game for the fourth year in a row, ending with an 11-1 loss to Davenport Assumption on Saturday. HCHS defeated Boone 5-4 in the first round Tuesday night and also rallied past Waverly-Shell Rock for a 7-6 victory in Friday’s semifinals.
 Harlan Community is now tied for third in Iowa with 18 trips to the summer state baseball tournament and ranks fifth with 23 state tournament wins (23-15).
 This year’s five Cyclone seniors - Jared Moser, Ryan Doran, Nick Foss, Logan Klaassen and Jacob Bartley - have never finished a baseball season anywhere other than Principal Park in Des Moines, playing on teams that finished with an incredible 69-7 record the last two years and 127-20 the last four. Moser was a five-year varsity player, during which time HCHS went 152-29.
