Titan softball team downs Cyclones 9-1

COUNCIL BLUFFS -- The Harlan Community softball team lost its ninth consecutive game on Tuesday night (June 20), falling 9-1 at Council Bluffs Lewis Central.
The Titans (20-7-1 overall) took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first on Ashtyn Miller’s RBI single and Alea Binkley’s RBI double. HCHS starting pitcher Morgan Schaben escaped a bases-loaded jam in the second but was unable to dodge the same trouble in the fourth when Miller struck for a two-out, two-run single. Emily Brouse relieved Schaben and was greeted by Gabrielle Martinez’s two-run triple into the right field corner. LC would add three more runs in the fifth.
HCHS scored its only run in the seventh inning when Brouse drove home Madison Parman with her second hit of the game. Kaylie Briggs also had two singles.
