Sporrer, Fischer pace area runners at Lo-Ma Invite
LOGAN -- The IKM-Manning and AHSTW cross country teams combined to earn five individual medals, including three top-six finishes, at Tuesday’s Logan-Magnolia Invitational.
The IKM-M boys placed seventh out of 12 full-squad teams with a score of 133 and the AHSTW boys took eighth with a 216. The Lady Vikes, meanwhile, placed sixth out of 12 girls teams with a 167.
The IKM-Manning girls had just two runners competing but both fared quite well. Senior Payton Sporrer came in fifth out of 96 total competitors with a five-kilometer time of 20:33. Senior Cassidy Branning missed out on a medal by just one spot, finishing 21st.
The AHSTW girls were led by senior Heidi Hall, who placed sixth in 20:41. Julia Kock, a freshman, took 23rd.
Viking senior Dalton Fischer placed fifth out of 132 boys with a time of 17:03 and teammate Carter Phippen finished 30th.
IKM-M was led by a pair of medalists in senior Dillon Hansen (17th) and freshman Quentin Dreyer (18th).
