Spartans walk it off vs. Bulldogs on Rasmussen hit
KIMBALLTON (June 6) -- Mollie Rasmussen’s game-winning walk-off single to right field in the bottom of the seventh capped a late rally by the Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton softball team for a 9-8 win over Boyer Valley Thursday night.
The visiting Bulldogs scored four runs in the top of the sixth on four hits and four errors to take an 8-5 lead, but the Spartans plated two runs each in the sixth and the seventh to win it.
Alisa Partridge drew a bases-loaded walk to tie the score before Rasmussen’s bases-loaded hit drove in the winning run.
Ashley Hansen and Shay Burmeister both had two hits and scored two runs to lead the Spartan offense. Tatum Grubbs added a double and also scored twice while Kami Waymire had three RBI.
Macy Emgartner, who singled, walked and scored a run, pitched all seven innings for the Spartans, allowing five hits and eight runs, but only two earned runs. She walked two and struck out six.
