Spartans roll into playoffs with 54-21 win

 COON RAPIDS (Oct. 19) -- Cole Burmeister’s six touchdowns and 385 yards from scrimmage led the way Friday night as the Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton football team wrapped up an Eight-Player, District 8 title with a 54-21 victory at Coon Rapids-Bayard. The 8th-ranked Spartans finished the regular season 8-1 overall (6-1 in the district) and will now host Stanton (7-2) in the first round of the playoffs this Friday (Oct. 26).
 Burmeister racked up 245 rushing yards and four touchdowns on just 16 carries at CR-B and also caught five passes for 140 yards and two TDs. He scored 40 total points, adding two PAT kicks and a two-point conversion. Jayden Goodwin scored the Spartans’ other two touchdowns, carrying the ball six times for 108 yards.
