Spartans fall to Wheelers in season opener, 55-14

 AUDUBON -- The Audubon Wheelers proved as good as advertised in Friday night’s 8-Player season opener vs. Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton, building a big halftime lead and defeating the Spartans 55-14.
 Exira-EHK pulled within 13-6 in the first quarter on Josh Pettepier’s 32-yard TD pass to Jayden Goodwin, but it was all Audubon the rest of the way.
 Ranked third in the state by the Des Moines Register, the Wheelers got a big game from senior quarterback Tyler Riebhoff, who passed for 113 yards and two scores while also rushing for 86 yards and one TD. Nolan Smith added 81 rushing yards and two scores and Josh Lange caught a pair of touchdown passes.
 Exira-EHK will host Bedford (1-1) on Friday night.
