Spartans approach 600 yards in 32-point win over Eagles

 CLARINDA -- Senior Cole Madsen and junior Cole Burmeister combined to rush for 274 yards and five touchdowns Friday night as the Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton football team rolled up 579 total yards in a 70-38 win at Clarinda Academy.
 Junior quarterback Josh Pettepier also had a big night for the Spartans, completing 7-of-10 passes (one interception) for 157 yards and two touchdowns while scoring twice on the ground.
 Burmeister was the team’s top receiver with three catches for 74 yards and one TD. Trey Nelson had two receptions for 32 yards and Jayden Goodwin caught a 24-yard touchdown pass.
 Madsen rushed for three TDs, netting 147 yards on just 11 carries. Burmeister added 127 yards and two TDs on 13 attempts and Goodwin carried the ball nine times for 80 yards.
 Exira-EHK improved to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in District 7 (8-Player), good for a three-way tie for second place with Fremont-Mills and Woodbine. The Spartans will host Woodbine this Friday at 7:00 p.m.
