Spartans’ Carey advances at 160

 MISSOURI VALLEY (Feb. 3) -- Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton junior Dawson Carey placed second at Saturday’s Class 1A Sectional Wrestling Tournament in Missouri Valley and advanced to this Saturday’s district meet at Guthrie Center.
 Carey (32-11) finished 2-1 on the day at 160 pounds, beating Logan-Magnolia’s Dalton Reisz 5-4 in a wrestleback for true second place after being pinned by Audubon’s Trace McCuen in the finals.
 Four other Spartans also competed on Saturday. Jamie Stewart placed third at 113 pounds, Levi Klenda (126) and Trever Oldham (145) both placed fourth and Ethan Marxen took fifth at 138. Exira-EHK finished sixth out of seven teams in the field, scoring 58 points.
